About this Journal
I'm just a small-town girl with a country accent that I can't shake and a big imagination. I do believe that what we search for is usually in our hands. I have dreams that I always said I'd keep, a hometown that I adore, a boyfriend who means the world to me, a sister who I love more than life, and a future bro-in-law who tries to teach us to cook. I have the best parents, great friends who have, Lord knows, stuck with me through tough s%*&. I don't cuss, I have faith, I'm mostly optimistic. I'd rather go fishing with my dad on SUDS, wear cut-off jeans and cowboy boots, than get all dolled-up for some night on the town. I'm a star-watching, American-loving, poetry-writing, football-cheering, rodeo-going country girl with the biggest heart. :)

We have this tradition of making New Year's resolutions at the beginning of every year, but the truth is, we never keep them. I swear, every year people say "i'm going to lose weight, i'm going to eat better, la la la." I think we all need to change our resolutions so that they are something we actually stick to, things that are happy and fun that we would look forward to doing. I actually haven't thought of any resolutions, but give me a sec...

This year I will...

Go skydiving.
Spend more time with family and friends.
Keep up with my email.
Drink as much coffee as I want, without worrying.
Write more often in my journal and on my blogs.
Smile at everyone.
Send birthday cards instead of emails.
Put together at least 10 hard puzzles with Brian.

There, those resolutions seem awesome actually and it's true, I can't wait to get started! Here's to 2009, let it be a fun, happy, and satisfying new year!

I just so happened to be looking at Amazon.com for magazine subscriptions when I saw a women's magazine with Mrs. Obama on the cover. Next to her picture there was a little blab that said, "Michelle Obama discusses how to keep sex hot after marriage." I was shocked! Not that I can't understand the fact that they are trying to make the new pres and his wife look like "normal" people, but what first lady gives sex advice to the nation? Is that the direction this presidency is going? Trying to connect with the average person by giving advice on...not the economy, not even cooking recipes (as some first ladies do), but how to keep it hot after marriage. I'm kind of fumbling at what I'm trying to say, because I really don't understand this president and the hype around him. I mean, Time magazine named Mr. Obama the person of the year, when in my eyes he has not yet done anything. Not a single thing. Sure, he won the election, made history and whatnot, but we have no idea what the state of our nation will be during his presidency. Don't you think we should wait to judge this "great" man to see if he can actually do anything first besides run his mouth on political topics. I feel like I just do not understand Americans anymore, well liberal Americans...but it's not that I ever did to begin with. I will give Mr. President a chance if he actually accomplishes anything, but until then, I'm not going to believe he should be the person of the year, nor should his wife be giving sex advice.

So, I wanted to write a post that was a little more happy than a quick update. I am so excited about Christmas. Well, I am a little torn actually. It's going to be a different one. I will not be around my parents, my sis, or my family, but I will get to spend it with a whole new family that I have come to love and cherish, Brian's family. They have accepted me like I was their own, and I am very thankful and lucky for that. I can't wait to start decorating our condo for Christmas. I didn't bring any decorations with me though so we'll use what Brian has and then see what we have. All we really need are some candles and a real tree. :) Simple, but amazing. I wish my sis and James were already in Phoenix so they could come and spend it with us. Maybe next year. I have always loved the holidays and I've always been one of those people who start playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving...and I'm proud of it! haha.

Alright everyone, time to find some dinner. :) I hope you all are doing well.

Hi everyone! I haven't wrote anything in this journal for a very long time! I think I better write a very quick update since my last post...
*I was in a bad place in the last post...
*I'm in a very good place now.
:)
Quick enough? haha.

So now, I'm living in San Diego! Yey! It's a great, safe, comforting place. Last night we went out to a German restaurant called The Kaiserhof. It was really good! A few weeks ago we went to the famous haunted Whaley House, and walked around Old Town. We also went to the Point Loma Lighthouse, and Hawaii. We've done so much since I've been here and it's been so great. Next week we're going camping and I can't wait. I love camping!

What I'm doing these days...
*looking for a job, haha
*watching Lost so I can catch up before this season starts
*watching airplanes
*growing the Bonzai tree that Aimee and James gave us
*growing my bamboo
*doing sudoku's
*reading Stephen King books

I've switched journals a few times, trying to cover up pieces of my past that I didn't like or that sounded ridiculously crazy at the time, but I'm turning back to this one. I'm ready to stick to one journal and not jump all over the place. :) Tschuss! Oh, and I will start posting more regularly.

May. 9th, 2008 @ 07:09 pm ranting and raving
Ok so wtf! I don't get why every freaking relationship I'm in I seem to be taken forgranted. Why can't relationships just be? I want someone who just gets me, who can just be with me and just freakin be! Is that so much to ask? Is it so much to ask if someone can just chill out with you and be happy just like that? Every single relationship I'm in seems to get distorted after a while and the person takes me forgranted...then, when it ends, it's like omg erica, what have I done. I have alway been faithful in my relationships, in every single one I've ever had...yet. guys seem to perceive me as something I'm not. So now it's like WTF, what in the fuckin' heck is going on. Why can't I just find someone who gets me, who's happy with me, and who's not going to try and start fights every single day. WTF!

Current Location: Germany
Current Mood: happyhappy
Current Music: Beer in Mexico - Kenny Chesney
So, Christy and I were talking yesterday and we realized that we really don't have "accents" anymore from where we are from. When you live in Cali, you talk Cali slang. When you live in Oklahoma, you talk like an Okie. When you live in New York, you talk like a New Yorker. But when you live on an American military post, you talk like EVERY state! There are so many people blended here from every state that you pick up words and slang from all of the U.S. and therefore, you lose your original slang.

Like, a few examples are...we all say...

wazoo - up the wazoo
biggeon - look at that biggeon
donkey shown - the american version of dankeshon, thank you in german
y'all
you guys
fixin' - "i'll call you when i'm fixin' to leave"
bo-koo - a lot
chow - food
There are so many more that I just can't think of right now...

But then there's also military slang on top of all this...

pcs'ing - we're pcsing in april - moving to a new post
downrange - deployed in a combat zone
the box - the training around surrounding us
USAREUR - United States ARmy EURope
OPSEC - operational security...usually used as, "christy, opsec! come on, get with it." HAHA, if someone's ID is left out, if you're being "too American" on the economy...
on the economy - off post in Germany
PT - physical training, working out
battle rattle - combat gear
civvies - civilian clothes
quarters - our house! everyone's house
the sand box - Iraq

I can't go on with the military slang because there is just too much of it that it's like my second language. It's just odd that when you are stationed overseas people start to not be able to tell where you are from, because instead of taking up the slang and language of a state within the U.S., you take on the slang of the U.S.

Current Music: Josh Groban - My Confession

So just now I was inching closer and closer to my computer so I could hear the music that came on because it was a little quiet. Then I realized, oh, just turn up the volume! I have been so scatterbrained lately and I don't know why. Maybe it's all of this caffeine I am drinking. I've become addicted to energy drinks and today I found my absolute favorite kind ever, amp energy by mountain dew. Oh man, it's awesome! But anyways, haha, my thoughts are so random and I blurt out such random stuff lately that people are even noticing! I can't focus.

To show a little of my randomness, my playlist right now goes from Paula Abdul, to Elvis, to Coolio, to Josh Groban. hahahaha. :)
